Tbilisi – Mtskheta - Kakheti

I day : Tbilisi Tour

Tbilisi - known from 5th century as a capital of Georgia, the city is extraordinary with its turbulent history, elegant and remarkable Architectural monuments destroyed and restored through the centuries but keeping entire style of Georgian orthodox religion and tradition.


 Walk through old city, visit 4th century Narikala fortress, Metekhi 


church of 13th century, Anchiskhati Basilica dated to 6th century, Sulphur bathhouses, art galleries.

II day Mtskheta  Day Tour

After breakfast   trip to Mtskheta  City

The rest of this day will be spent in Mtskheta – an ancient capital of Kartli Iberia Kingdom, known as a political and cultural center from 3rd century BC and now designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 Trip to visit Svetitskhoveli  11th century architectural monuments, celebrated as a cradle of Christianity and well- known as a cross-cupola with beautiful carving in traditional style, located in the historical town of Mtskheta.

Svetitskhoveli, known as the burial site of Christ's mantle, has long been the principal Georgian church and remains one of the most venerated places of worship to this day.

The current cathedral was built in the 11th century by the Georgian architect Arsukisdze, though the site itself is even older dating back to the early 4th century and is surrounded by a number of legends associated primarily with the early Christian traditions.

Trip to Jvari church built in 6th century, distinguished with its harmonious proportions representing the high achievement of early medieval Georgian Architecture.

Jvari Monastery stands on the rocky mountaintop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta, which was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Iberia.

The distance from Tbilisi to Mtskheta is 25km (15-20 min driving).

III day  Trip to Kakheti Region

After breakfast   trip to Kakheti region

This trip in the picturesque and most fertile region of Georgia Kakheti, which borders the Great Caucasus range from the north and Azerbaijan from the South. This is rich viticulture part of Georgia, the rout leads wine favorites to the main wine producing region, where concentrations of grape seeds has been known from 5th millennium BC.

 Exploring Kakheti province you will visit the most important architectural complexes, monuments and have a taste of variety of traditional dishes and famous wines.


We will have a round trip in Kakheti area. Start this day with sightseeing tour of Signagi hill town of surrounded with defense wall, afterwards drive to Tsinandali estate with first winery in Georgia, founded by Alexander Chavchavadze in 19th century. Wine favorites can taste superior Kakhetian wine. Continue to Telavi, historical city and the center of Kakheti province. Lunch at local restaurant. Short visit to Old Shuamta monastery dating from 6-8th centuries .Little further visit the elegant fortified Cathedral of Alaverdi built in 11th century.

 The distance from Tbilisi to the center of kakheti province - Telavi is 170 km (2.5 hours driving).

IV Day  Kakheti :

In Hotel complex  “Savaneti “ & “Bazieri” tourists can participate in vintage , Squeze Kakhetian grapes, distil vodka “Chacha (Zaodoba) prepare Kakhetian “Churchkhela (made form the grape’s juice and walnuts), bake “Mother Bread “ in “Thone-Georgian bakery & experience various national traditional and European cuisines , also taste Kakhetian wine. Thumbnail image
